How I use wishlist member plugin with wordpress to create my membership site also known as a continuity program. I show you some of the features of the plugin and my actual membership site for online guitar lessons. How to use teaser content, protect your pages, integrate with an autoresponder (I use getresponse). More of a demo of the plugin and a real membership site than how to’s. The wishlist website has tons of great video tutorials.

Using Teaser Content with Wishlist Member

July 21st, 2009

As you may know I recently switched to Wishlist Member plugin from Extreme Member (EM). I noticed WL Member has a feature to use teaser content (as does EM) so I wanted to get that working.

All you need to do is put [private_level] [/private_level] around your protected content. So for example [private_goldLevel] my protected videos/audios/text [/private_goldLevel]. You also should keep in mind that you need to have the page unprotected (the tags protect the content you’ve wrapped). I wasn’t sure if I should protect the page (and have WL show the teaser content) or vice versa.

But what if you have multiple levels that get access to the protected content? In this case you should use the currently undocumented feature of using ‘pipes’. So you have [private level1 | level2] my content [/private]. Eg. [private GoldLevel | SilverLevel] [/private]. Note the difference just a private tag with attributes for the levels separated by pipes. And again make sure the page is unprotected so people can see the teaser portion.

Wishlist Member Plugin

I recently moved my membership site to Wishlist Member Plugin and I have to say it rocks. If you’re familiar with wordpress plugins, you know how dead simple they are to use. There are many cool features with this plugin:

-Integrates with Paypal. Recently I set up 1ShoppingCart and believe it or not, 1SC doesn’t integrate with Paypal for recurring payments requiring you to get a pricey merchant account and gateway.
-Integrates with email autoresponders such as GetResponse and Aweber
-Simple Integration – very easy to set up. For Paypal, you just paste a few things into your paypal subscription button and off you go!
-Lots of video tutorials that show you how to set everything up
-For me transferring from Extreme Member was important, and they have an awesome way to import members from other systems, and you can have them roll over into a new membership after 30 days.

If you need help setting up your membership site, drop me a line.
